Three games in this series have gone Over, but the pace has been perfect for the Under in all four games. The pace continues to slow down because the defensive units have seen everything you can throw at them and there are no new wrinkles left. Defense will slow the pace Tuesday, and we have two exceptional defensive teams. Take the Under.
This series between the Spurs and Nuggets has been one of the most difficult to predict. Both teams stole a win on the road, with the Nuggets pulling off a huge 14-point victory in Game 4 to even things up. While I can see the Nuggets winning this game, the Spurs are going to make it tough. So let's take the points Tuesday.
The San Antonio Spurs and Denver Nuggets have been the lone unpredictable series thus far in the NBA playoffs. Game 5 is critical for a young Nuggets team that averted a 3-1 deficit to regain home court advantage. Yet this is a Spurs team that has risen via the youth-veteran infusion of teams past. Look for Popovich and the Spurs to cover the 5.5 tonight.
The Spurs have played tremendous ball in Denver this series, and I like them to bounce back from their Game 4 dud with a very competitive effort if not an outright win here. Derrick White and Rudy Gay will play better, and coach Gregg Popovich will make the needed adjustments. Grab the points.
