There's little doubt that the Thunder officially belong in the category of the Underdog That Nobody Wants. There's a widespread perception that their historic comeback in Game 5 will be followed by a series-ending thumping in Utah, where the Jazz have dominated in winning both series games there by double figures. But OKC backers are being given an extra basket-plus of value in this line compared to Game 4, and I've got a strong suspicion that Russell Westbrook and friends might in fact be sent home for the season, but it won't be without a fight.
This series should already be over, but let's be grateful there's one more chance to bet the Jazz at home against the Thunder and Russell Westbrook's ego. The Thunder got some home cooking with the usual home-team playoff officiating in both Utah losses, but the Jazz have proved throughout the series they're definitely the better team and they've been rolling since late January. Back Utah to close it out and win by double digits Friday.
The trusty projection model sees a maximum of 200 points hitting the scoreboard Friday in Game 6 between the Jazz and Thunder. The Under is hitting in 62 percent of simulations, giving us a solid value position here. These clubs played up tempo at a couple junctures in this series but, with an elimination game raising the intensity, expect the defensive effort to step up a bit and clip the scoring enough to send this Under.
The Jazz have covered four straight home games, and I think they close this series out in style. Utah was in control of Game 5 in OKC until Rudy Gobert and Derrick Favors both got in foul trouble early in the third quarter. The chances of that happening again are slim. Lay it.
