In three starts this season against the Atlanta, Philadelphia’s Zack Wheeler has a 2.70 ERA. He faces the Braves Kyle Wright, who owns a 2.84 ERA in three starts against the Phillies this year. As for NL bullpens this season, the Braves had the 2nd best, 3.03 ERA, while the Phillies had a bottom-five bullpen, 4.27 ERA. Philadelphia’s bullpen is the worst in the NL this post-season as well, 6.75 ERA. Over the last 10 games, Atlanta has a better batting average than Philadelphia, .245 to .234. They also have a better wRC+, 117 to 96. This season, following a loss, Atlanta wins the next game 65.6% of the time. I’m on the Braves.
I really don't like the sides offered today, but that this total has moved from 7 to 7.5 (which surprises me) now has me interested with Zack Wheeler and Kyle Wright on the mound. Both are capable of 6-7 shutout innings, especially the Atlanta-area native Wheeler. He had a 2.70 ERA vs. the Braves this year and Wright had a 2.84 ERA vs. the Phillies. The Under is 8-3 in the Phillies' last 11 road games vs. a right-handed starter. It's 10-3 in the Braves' past 13 after scoring five runs or more in their previous game.
Zack Wheeler and Kyle Wright have dominated against their respective opposing teams today. Every start they have made against the other team resulted in a quality start this season, except for one of Kyle Wright’s outings that only went 5.1 IP instead of the required 6 IP. So were probably going to get a close, well pitched game. Kyle Wright is also 12-1 with a 3.35 ERA in his last 15 games. The Braves have done a great job of bouncing back all season as they have never been swept in a three game series and lost three games in a row just once. The Phillies are without their closer David Robertson this series and it almost proved fatal in Game 1. I think if the Braves can keep it close today, they will be able to win it off the Phillies bullpen.
