I keep waiting for Johnny Cueto to turn into a pumpkin, but he continues to impress and has a 2.00 ERA on the road this year. His lone start vs. Kansas City was six shutout innings. I'm going to be careful on the Sox without Tim Anderson, but pretty much everyone else is in there today and that right-handed-heavy lineup generally fares better against lefties like the Royals' Kris Bubic (2-6, 5.27 ERA). He has been better of late but is still 1-4 with a 5.86 ERA at home. The White Sox are making their fourth attempt since Aug. 3 to move three games over .500 for the first time since April 17 (6-3). Knowing my Pale Hose, they will blow it somehow, but they are the smart bet here.
The White Sox haven’t been nearly as good against lefties the past 30 days as they are ranked 25th in wOBA. They are also still missing Tim Anderson who will be out 4-6 weeks with an injury. Kris Bubic has been much better lately with four straight quality starts against good lineups. Johnny Cueto has been very good for the White Sox but I think one big hit could make the difference in this game. The Royals are 6-7 against the White Sox this season and 4-3 at home, I like the value.
