The Giants started this season 14-7 and it looked like their 2021 magic was carrying over. It did not. They've now lost six in a row and have been a mediocre team (or worse) for a much larger chunk of the season than when they were good. Alex Cobb starts and though it's a small sample, he's been brutal on the road this year. D-Backs starter Merrill Kelly has been more good than otherwise and he was nails in Coors Field last time out. The conditions are much easier this time around against a lackluster Giants offense.
The San Francisco Giants continue to fade as their current losing streak has reached a season-high six games. Yet, they are still above .500 and have time to improve before the All-Star break. Manager Gabe Kapler stated that his team will take it one game at a time. Expect a strong effort Wednesday as the Giants have not been swept by the Diamondbacks since 2019. Take the road favorite.
In the past three weeks, the Giants have been the worst team in the league. They are now 5-13 in their last 18 games and 3-6 on the road. The Diamondbacks are 8-9 in that same span, but they are 7-4 at home. Merrill Kelly has been pitching very well lately and he is coming off a gem in Colorado. Alex Cobb will be making just his fourth start since returning from the IL and he has been much worse on the road. He did pitch decent in the three games, but he didn’t go more than five innings. Continue to fade the Giants until they show signs of life.
