There is very hitter friendly weather today in Philadelphia. Both of these starting pitchers have struggled. Cardinals starter Miles Mikolas has a 3.44 ERA over his last eight starts. Phillies starter Bailey Falter has a 5.68 ERA in the three games he has started. Both of these offenses are great. They both average 4.8 runs, which is third best in the league. This game should easily get to double digit runs.
Bailey Falter has struggled this season while Miles Mikolas has been dominant lately. He has four straight quality starts and two of those were at least eight innings with two or fewer runs. Falter also doesn’t get deep in the game so that’s a problem for a thin Phillies bullpen. The Cardinals actually haven’t been hitting lefties as well as they did to start the season, but the Phillies will also be without JT Realmuto in their lineup. I like the Cards on the road.
The Cardinals rank sixth in OPS versus left-handers as they prepare to battle Phillies southpaw Bailey Falter in Friday's series opener. St. Louis should have eight right-handed bats in the lineup. Miles Mikolas has a 1.55 ERA over his last four starts and should get better run support tonight than he has lately.
