We might as well keep riding the Red Sox train while we can. When this team hits, they are dangerous as any team in the league, as we saw yesterday. Michael Wacha has been very good this season and Robbie Ray has been susceptible on the road. At almost a pick em, we gotta keep riding the Red Sox while they’re hot.
The Red Sox's offense finally is coming together, as seen last night in their 12-6 win in the first game of this series. Despite Boston's struggles against left-handed pitchers, Robbie Ray hasn't given any indication that he'll be successful against this Red Sox offense. Not to mention, the over is 5-2-1 in Ray's starts this season. Although Michael Wacha has been excellent this season, he did terribly in both starts against the Mariners last season when with Tampa Bay, allowing five and six ER. Both bullpens have struggled this season, and both were busy last night. Let's hope for another high scoring game.
Bolstered by Trevor Story getting hot, the Red Sox offense has hit .285/.354/.486 while averaging 6.4 runs per game in their last nine. They've won six of those games. The Mariners, meantime, are 8-15 on the road and it's the tail end of a long road trip. Robbie Ray starts for the M's, but he has a 5.18 ERA since the opener. Michael Wacha returns for the Red Sox and he's been great this season. Plus, the Red Sox bullpen, aside from Tanner Houck, is very rested.
