The Blue Jays are definitely in an offensive funk right now, but they haven't played at home since May 4 (are 10-6 at Rogers Centre). Their home OPS of .738 is No. 9 in the majors (compared to .624 on the road, which is 25th). Seattle has won just one of Chris Flexen's six starts and he wasn't good last time out. Jays lefty Yusei Kikuchi, the former Mariner, has allowed three earned over 11.1 innings in his past two. Seattle is 2-7 vs. southpaws. Also, Mariners manager Scott Servais has said a "couple" guys won't make the trip due to Canadian COVID regulations.
I just don’t think the Blue Jays should be this heavily favored against anybody right now, at least when they don’t have Gausman or Manoah starting. Yusei Kikuchi has pitched very well lately, but he is facing his old team today and he has had walk issues this season. He could pitch well, but even if he does, the Blue Jays bullpen behind him has been extremely susceptible. The Mariners are playing much better lately coming off a series win against the Mets. Chris Flexen is hit or miss but the Blue Jays just cannot hit righties right now. They are in the bottom 5 in the league in wOBA against righties in the past three weeks and they are 19th in wOBA overall against righties. The Blue Jays are also dead last in the league in wOBA with RISP this season. This will most definitely turn around, maybe sooner than later, but we have to take the value here until it does. The Mariners also won both series they played against the Blue Jays last season, take the Mariners on the road.
