The Rockies own an MLB-best .867 OPS versus lefties, and tonight they face struggling Washington southpaw Patrick Corbin (0-4, 8.69 ERA). Austin Gomber (3.86 ERA) has been solid for Colorado and should contain a Nats lineup that's exploded for 38 runs over the past four games. This is a nice bounceback spot for Colorado at a reasonable price.
Patrick Corbin has seriously struggled to start this season, and it won’t get any easier today facing the best team in the league in wOBA against lefties. Austin Gomber will be starting for the Rockies and he tends to pitch very well at Coors Field. The Nationals also rank just 21st in the league in wOBA against lefties. The Rockies are just 5-5 in their last 10 games but they are 9-5 at home. The Nats have lost 7 of their last 10 games.
Wednesday game. I don't often recommend picking MLB games this early as lineups are obviously important but as long as it remains Patrick Corbin vs. Austin Gomber, I'm on the Rockies early at this very cheap price. I don't know what has happened to the Nats' Corbin, who used to be great but has been a different guy since the shortened COVID season. He's 0-4 with an 8.69 ERA this year. Gomber isn't exactly Cy Young but comes off back-to-back quality starts and is 5-2 with a 2.61 ERA at Coors Field in his two seasons with Colorado. I'm simply going to take the Rockies all year (until proven wrong) as short home favorites against bad teams or at +1.5 on the runline against good ones.
