New York RHP Tylor Megill has been effective thus far this season, and this is a game the team needs, as Philadelphia and Atlanta are 3 1/2 and four games back in the NL East, respectively. The Marlins are a tougher team at home, where they are 24-24, but with newly acquired LHP Jesus Luzardo making his team debut, there might be some growing pains in store for him. In Luzardo's last nine innings of work, he has allowed 11 earned runs and served up six homers. The Mets should be able to score on him and notch a win.
Jesus Luzardo is making his Marlins debut tonight against Mets rookie Tylor Megill. Megill has been very good in seven starts this season while Luzardo has seriously struggled. The Mets struggle against lefties but they have some key players like JD Davis and Javier Baez in the lineup now that should help them. The Marlins traded about 70% of their RBIs in Starling Marte and Adam Duvall and it has showed. Take the Mets on the road.
The Marlins are on a four-game skid and have scored just four runs in their past three. Probably won't do much tonight against Tylor Megill (1-0, 2.04 ERA), who has been a godsend in that New York rotation. Miami hasn't seen him. It goes with lefty Jesus Luzardo, who came over in the Starling Marte trade last week. Luzardo has a lot of upside but had a 6.87 ERA in the bigs this year with Oakland before being sent down. He'll probably only serve as a pseudo-opener. The Marlins are 2-7 in their past nine as home dogs.
