Last season the Rays went 22-9 in the 31 games started by Blake Snell, and he won the Cy Young. This season, Snell's still pretty good, but he's not the guy who won the Cy Young last season, and the Rays are only 6-7 in his 13 starts. Yet they're still getting priced more in line with last season's performance, so I like the Angels here, as no team strikes out less often than they do. Plus, Andrew Heaney is starting for the Angels, and he gets a lot of strikeouts, and tonight he'll be facing a Tampa offense with a lot of swing-and-miss to its game.
Both these teams are about the same quality against lefties. Blake Snell is 4-5 with a 3.5 ERA this season including a 2.91 ERA at home. He is 1-1 with a 2.84 in two starts against the Angels. Andrew Heaney is making his fourth start this season and he has given up two home runs in each of his first three outings. He is 0-2 with a 3.0 ERA against the Rays and gave up four runs in six innings in his only start in Tropicana Field.
