I basically playing the Marlins because of the number. It doesn't hurt that they may feel more confident after last night's 16-0 win over the Brew Crew. I'm playing the number because the Brewers are starting Jimmy Nelson tonight, Nelson is returning from a right rotator cuff strain and a partial anterior labrum tear in 2017. He did not pitch at all in 2018. Nelson was really starting to come into his own in 2017 and pitching like the ace of the staff. This will take some time for Nelson to get even close to that form. Sandy Alcantara is 23 and has a big-time fastball. Alcantara can be very inconsistent and has major problems with his command walking almost as many as he strikes out per nine innings. However Alcantara has been brilliant in two of his last three starts. I take a shot with him to be brilliant one more time at +230.
I'm taking a shot on a red-hot offense here. The Marlins have scored 34 runs in their last three games, including a 16-0 blowout of these Brewers on Tuesday. Milwaukee starter Jimmy Nelson will be pitching for the first time this season on Wednesday night, so it's hard to imagine he's going to be sharp, or last very long, putting pressure on a bullpen that got a lot of work last night. The Marlins are worth a shot at this price.
