The White Sox have won the first two games of this series, and with Carlos Rodon on the mound Thursday, they're no doubt thinking sweep. Unfortunately for the South Siders, I don't see that happening. Carlos Rodon looked good in his first start of the season against Boston, but he was far from efficient. I wouldn't expect him to be in mid-season form just yet, and Mike Clevinger has performed well against this White Sox team, and won't have to face either Yoan Moncada or Tim Anderson on Thursday as they both get a day off.
I was surprised when Carlos Rodon returned so soon. Rodon missed most of last year and all of 2018 until making a start June 9. Rodon was solid in a 4-2 loss at Boston. He rated 20 cents below an average pitcher. Rodon has great stuff but I'm not expecting him to be in mid-season form until late July or early August. Mike Clevinger has been outstanding on the road, with a 2.43 ERA and a .182 batting average allowed. I make the Indians-175.
My numbers have the Indians beating the White Sox in more than two-thirds of simulations for their Thursday contest, providing value on the moderate road chalk. The Indians are 9-2 in Mike Clevinger's starts against AL Central opponents, The White Sox are 3-7 when Carlos Rodon starts against winning teams.
