The Pirates have won four straight, all of which went Over because the bats came alive. Meanwhile, the Giants come in on a five-game losing skid. Jeff Samardzija had some success against the Pirates in 2017 but he hasn't found his groove yet in 2018, allowing 13 runs in 17.2 innings, pushing all four of his starts Over the total. Chad Kuhl gets lots of run support and all seven of his starts have gone Over. This one should go Over as well.

The Pirates' 25-year-old righty Chad Kuhl has always had the overpowering fastball, but now he has so much confidence in his curveball and change-up. Being able to throw his off-speed stuff in hitter's counts has made him so much more effective. All three of Kuhl's home starts have been above average. Giants right-hander Jeff Samardzija is now a 33-year-old average pitcher. He has a career 69-89 record and in his four 2018 starts has allowed 13 walks in 17.2 innings.
