The long-overrated Sonny Gray is 5-8 with a 4.63 ERA in 15 starts since joining the Yankees. He has an 8.27 ERA through four starts and opponents are hitting .315 against him. He is 2-3 with a 5.14 ERA in five career starts against Minnesota. twins starter Lance Lynn has struggled thus far but his only career start against the Yankees resulted in a shutout victory. Minnesota is offered at a lucrative price to end its five-game losing streak Wednesday against an overpriced opponent.
I'm not big on playing teams on five-game losing streaks but the Twins are a far better team than the record. Lance Lynn has been horrible. HORRIBLE. But there is only one reason there coming back with Lynn. He is a well-above-average arm that needs a couple of starts to get dialed in. Lynn has been bad, very good and bad. The very good shows me he has it but hasn't had the command that made him one of the aces of the Cardinals staffs. Look for a big game tonight by Lynn. It is a lot easier to go with Lynn when he is against Sonny Gray, who is struggling even worse than Lynn is. Gray has allowed 23 hits in 16 1/3 innings for an ERA of 8.27.
