This appears to be a value price Friday on the Braves behind Mike Foltynewicz, who showed signs of dominance last year. He was 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA in three starts against the Phillies. Atlanta also is on a 5-1 home mark when he takes the mound against losing opponents. Phillies starter Nick Pivetta pitched well in a start at Atlanta last season, but his erratic tendencies resulted in a 6.02 ERA and 8-10 record.
Both starting pitchers have question marks, but I'm most concerned with Mike Foltynewicz vs. left-handed hitting. Foltynewicz has a career wOBA allowed of .372 to left-handed hitters making him one of the worst starters in MLB against lefties in terms of wOBA. The Phillies have several quality lefty bats that should make this a long day for Foltynewicz. Take the Phillies.
