Monday starts last series that New York Yankees get to bully Baltimore Orioles this season

The New York Yankees have absolutely demolished the Baltimore Orioles this season, and they open their final series of the season with a doubleheader Monday.

The New York Yankees are running away with the AL East Division, so maybe they would still lead it if they haven't played the cellar-dwelling and awful Baltimore Orioles 15 times this season. The Bombers have won 13 of those and 12 straight heading into this week's four-game set in the Bronx that concludes the season series. It starts Monday with a doubleheader, and New York will be heavily favored on the MLB odds in all four games. First pitch Monday in Game 1 is 1:05 p.m. ET.

Teams have dominated division foes in the past, sure, but what the Yankees have done to the Orioles is almost unfair. New York has homered an incredible 52 times against Baltimore, breaking the record for most by a team against a single opponent in one MLB season. The Yanks also have 11 players with multi-homer games against the Birds, breaking the record of 10 set by San Francisco against the Dodgers in 1958.

There's more. The Yankees have five games of at least five homers this year against the Orioles. That's a record. In sweeping three at Camden Yards last week, New York hit at least five homers in all three games, becoming only the second team in league history to hit at least five in three consecutive. The Red Sox did it against the Yankees at Fenway Park in June 1977. The Yanks were 10-0 at Camden Yards this year, hitting 43 dingers, and have won their past 14 there. New York's 16 homers last week also set a team record in a three-game series.

Baltimore has been outscored 118-62 in the 14 games and outhomered 52-17. The Orioles' staff is on pace to shatter the single-season record for homers allowed and their team ERA against New York in 2019 is 7.70. Gleyber Torres has 10 homers against the O's and Gary Sanchez nine. Just think of slugger Giancarlo Stanton, still on the injured list, had played in more than three games this year in the series.

But, hey, the Birds have won a series Yankee Stadium in 2019, taking two of three on the opening weekend of the season.
