Unless you've got a roster stacked with high-end pitchers you'll start against any matchup, you'll probably need to keep a close eye on the schedule as you get ready to set your lineup for the upcoming week. You'll need to know which of your starters have bad matchups, which are set for two starts in the upcoming week, and which fringe-y options might just be worth going out to grab on waivers.

Which is why you'll definitely want to check out SportsLine's weekly pitching Start 'Em & Sit 'Em chart from William Dubiel. A 15-year Fantasy veteran, Dubiel got his start in Fantasy baseball and has done work for Rotoballer, Metro US and multiple other outlets during his career. He was named the No. 4 MLB Ranker for the 2017 MLB season, so if there's anybody who can give you an edge in your Fantasy baseball league, it's him.

Now, he's helping you set your pitching lineup each week. William goes through every starting pitcher matchup for the upcoming week, making start and sit picks for each game. Here are some of William's calls for Week 21:

    • Ivan Nova's season-long numbers still look atrocious, but he's quietly put together a nice little hot streak. Since twirling a one-run complete game against the lowly Marlins on July 22nd, Nova has rattled off three more strong starts in a row, giving him a 3-0 record with a 0.64 ERA across his last four outings. The big issue is the lack of strikeouts, which has been a problem for Nova all season. Across the 28 innings of his last four starts, Nova tallied just 14 strikeouts, which is pretty much on par with his season-long ratio. He's got a home matchup against the Astros to start off the week, then he finishes on the road against the Angels — while those aren't great matchups, I'm sticking by Nova for the two starts.
    • Yusei Kikuchi has been playing an odd little "every other start is good" game for a couple of weeks now, but he's got a pretty solid way to snap out of that haze. This week he'll get to feast on the Tigers and Blue Jays offenses, the 21st- and 29th-ranked scoring offenses, respectively. While this is far from a glowing statistic, his last outing was the first time in four starts that he did not allow two or more home runs. He also posted his highest strikeout total (8) since May 3rd, and allowed just one earned run for the first time since June 13th. With those matchups on deck, now is the time for Kikuchi to actually provide some Fantasy value — if he's not start-worthy this week, he never will be.
    • The Indians clearly have something in Zach Plesac, as the 24-year-old righty has been excellent through his first 13 big league starts. HIs 3.13 ERA is likely due for some regression given his accompanying 5.20 SIERA, and this is likely the week that regression comes in earnest. Plesac has to navigate his way through the Yankee and Red Sox lineups — the number one and two offenses in baseball as of this writing. It's that simple in a scenario like this — Plesac isn't a dominant enough pitcher to successfully navigate both of those lineups. I have him as a sit in both matchups this week, but I'll be watching closely to see how he performs, as this week will be a good barometer of how much trust to put in him moving forward.
