Daniel Jones now among betting favorites for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year

After just one outing, the New York Giants QB skyrocketed in the market.

After one stellar outing and a comeback victory, the Daniel Jones hype train is churning in a big way. The first-round pick from Duke threw for 336 yards, rushed for 28 yards and generated four total touchdowns in his debut and, while there is plenty of work left for Jones in the future, the futures market noticed his showing.

Jones is now among the betting favorites for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors, even with a late start to his personal campaign and a team that isn't widely expected to make a playoff run. At present, FanDuel Sportsbook installs Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray as the favorite to win the award at +220 but Jones is now right on his heels, coming in at +260. DraftKings Sportsbook actually makes Jones the outright favorite at +225 with Murray at +350 and Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Marquise Brown at +550 in third position.

The Giants will be tasked with holding serve at home against an NFC East rival in the Washington Redskins in Week 4, with New York entering as a 3-point favorite. It is likely fair to say that Jones will need to engineer some level of team success in order to win the award outright but, in the same breath, his primary competition in Murray faces similarly modest team expectations as the season continues to progress.

It isn't wise to project four-touchdown performances on a weekly basis from Jones but, if he can follow his debut with another strong effort against Washington, even more believers will arrive.
