A tumultuous stretch for Ole Miss football came to an abrupt end Thursday evening when the school announced the immediate resignation of coach Hugh Freeze.

"This is a sad day for the University of Mississippi. ... Coach Freeze resigned this afternoon after confirming to Ross and me a pattern of personal misconduct inconsistent with the standards we expect from the leader of our football team," explained Ole Miss chancellor Jeffrey Vitter in a press conference, via CBS. "... We cannot accept the conduct in his personal life that we have discovered. ... This matter is totally unrelated to the NCAA case."

CBS Sports has more on the reported misconduct that ultimately led to Freeze's resignation, but a sportsbook is already looking ahead to what's next for the Rebels.

Offensive line coach Matt Luke has been named interim head coach, and with fall camp opening in a week, it appears he'll lead the team this season.

Market-setting offshore sportsbook BookMaker.eu has revealed odds for who will be Ole Miss's coach at the beginning of the 2018-19 season.

Matt Luke +250 (Wager $100 to gain $250)
Blake Anderson +300
Les Miles +450
Chip Kelly +850
Greg Schiano +1500
Mack Brown +2000
Field -400 (Wager $400 to gain $100)

Among the names listed, Luke is the favorite, though the field -- or every other possible coach -- is the strong favorite overall.

Though the NCAA investigation surrounding Freeze and Ole Miss has affected recruiting over the past two years, there's still plenty of talent, headlined by former five-star quarterback Shea Patterson. Luke should get a one-year audition to show what he can do.

Some intriguing names to keep an eye on include former LSU coach Les Miles and former Oregon/NFL coach Chip Kelly, both of whom will be linked to numerous openings as they become available this season.
