As a Vegas bookmaker, Micah Roberts was the first to offer expanded NASCAR betting. Now he hands out NASCAR winners to his followers. And he's already up huge in the 2019 season.
Roberts went with Jimmie Johnson as a hefty 25-1 longshot in the season-opening Advance Auto Parts Clash. The result: Johnson survived a huge crash and went on to win as Roberts' followers raked it in big-time. At the TicketGuardian 500 in Phoenix three weeks ago, Roberts nailed Kyle Busch at 4-1 odds over the heavily favored over Kevin Harvick, and got a ridiculous eight of the top 10 right. At the Auto Club 400 two weeks ago, he got nine of the top 10 correct.
Roberts finished big-time in the black in 2018, too. Those who wagered $100 on each of his picks last year have $1,750 in profit to show for it. His biggest wins came when he went against the grain, taking Brad Keselowski at 12-1 to win the South Point 400 at Las Vegas in the opening race of the NASCAR Playoffs, and going with Joey Logano, also 12-1, to take the First Data 500 at Martinsville in the playoffs as well. He also nailed four of Kevin Harvick's nine series victories and three of Kyle Busch's nine wins.
Last season capped an astonishing run in which Roberts picked nine of the 10 winners in the 2017 NASCAR Playoffs. In 2016, he took Denny Hamlin to win the Daytona 500 at 15-1, and took him again at 40-1 at Watkins Glen later that year. Anyone who's following his picks is up huge year after year.
Now Roberts has analyzed the field for Sunday's O'Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Texas Motor Speedway, with the green flag at 3 p.m. ET.
We can tell you he's not going with Martin Truex Jr., one of the top race favorites at 7-1. He's won 11 of his 19 career Cup races on 1.5-mile tracks, but has yet to taste victory at Texas. In fact, Roberts says Truex doesn't even crack the top five.
However, Roberts is high on a massive underdog with double-digit odds to shock the field and contend for the checkered flag. His picks and entire leaderboard will shock many, but anyone who backs them could hit it with a MASSIVE payday, just like with Johnson in the season opener.
