The 2019 Rebel Stakes will run two divisions as the Kentucky Derby prep race goes to post on Saturday from Oaklawn in Arkansas. Nineteen of the nation's top three-year-olds will hit the track in one of two divisional races, with qualifying points awarded toward the Run for the Roses. The first post time is at 5:57 p.m. ET.
Before you lock in any 2019 Rebel Stakes picks, you need to see what Jody Demling has to say.
He's gotten 2019 off to an astonishing start, nailing the superfecta at the prestigious Pegasus World Cup -- a $678 payout on a $1 bet -- and the superfecta at the Robert B. Lewis Stakes, too. He picked the winner of the Risen Star Stakes in February with War of Will.
The veteran racing handicapper nailed winners all through 2018, starting with last year's Pegasus World Cup. He crushed the exacta, taking Gun Runner to win it and West Coast to finish a surprising second -- and that's exactly what happened. Among others, he also produced big winning tickets at the Arkansas Derby and Belmont, and he nailed his ninth Preakness win in the last 14 years.
Anyone who has followed him is WAY up -- you could be too.
Now, Demling has evaluated both of Saturday's race from Oaklawn. He's released his entire leaderboard and locked in his exotics picks.
For the opening race of the stakes event, we can tell you he's high on Galilean, who's going off at 3-1 and could be a pivot off the race favorite, Improbable. The Jerry Hollendorfer-trained horse has won three of his four career starts, including the California Cup Derby at Santa Anita on Feb. 18, which ran the same length as Saturday's Rebel Stakes.
For the second division, we can tell you Demling is fading Omaha Beach, who's listed at 7-2, but will face a stiff jump in competition.
"Trainer Richard Mandella doesn't typically have a horse on the Derby trail unless he knows it's a really good one," Demling said. "It's still a lot of hype over a horse who just broke his maiden. I'll pass for now."
Demling is also extremely high on two surprising underdogs with the background to put it all together and be there at the end at Oaklawn. He's including both horses his exotics picks -- anyone who follows Demling's advice could hit it big once again. You ABSOLUTELY need to see his picks before heading to the window.
