Kentucky Derby hopefuls hit the dirt at Oaklawn on Saturday for the 2019 Rebel Stakes, a $1.5 event that's been broken into two divisions totaling 19 horses, the first going to post at 5:57 p.m. ET.
Before laying any wagers on the showdown involving many of the nation's top 3-year-olds, you need to see what legendary handicapper Hank Goldberg is saying about the race.
If you put $50 on Goldberg's Preakness Stakes picks last year, you would have won well over $11,000. Heck, you'd be rolling in it if you put anything on his picks for the Arlington Million in August, as he nailed his exacta pick by fading the favorite to a huge payout. He also picked a 39-1 horse to show in the Secretariat Stakes, and that one paid off too. Last summer, Goldberg's picks won a pile of dough for his followers at Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park, as he nailed the top four horses in order, winning his exacta, trifecta and superfecta! He even won the Pick 4 at Monmouth over the weekend.
Goldberg also confidently picked Accelerate to take the Pacific Classic. The horse went out and won the Grade I race by more than 12 lengths. Those are just some of his successes after nailing the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont.
He got the 2019 season off to a great start by nailing the winning horse in the Pegasus World Cup, the richest horse race in North America. He nailed the Gotham Stakes exacta on March 9, scoring $48 on a $2 bet. Anyone who has followed his horse racing picks is up HUGE.
Now, the horse-racing legend is all-in for the Rebel Stakes at Oaklawn.
We can tell you that in the first division, Goldberg is fading Long Range Toddy, one of the top favorites in the field who opened at 4-1. He hasn't won a race since December and isn't worth the 4-1 premium you'll need to pay for him in a loaded Division I field.
In the second division, Goldberg is high on Our Braintrust, a 6-1 underdog. He won his first two starts after being purchased by trainer Mark Casse.
"He was originally going to go to Dubai, but his connections changed their mind and sent him to Oaklawn instead," Goldberg told SportsLine. "They must think a lot of him to take this path to the Triple Crown."
Goldberg is all over two big darkhorses to hit the board HARD at Oaklawn. These horses have all the tools to put together a complete run, and if they hit as Goldberg expects, you could be looking at a MASSIVE payout!
