How a team's running back committee shakes out can make or break the Fantasy value of certain players. Knowing who you can trust can give you a massive edge in your league.
Before you make any kind of roster move involving a running back who is splitting carries this season, you'll want to see SportsLine Fantasy analyst Matt Franciscovich's breakdown of some of the most fluid running back committees. Franciscovich, a former Fantasy football analyst for NFL Network, is a content strategist and writer for EA Sports/Madden NFL competitive esports.
One thing we can tell you heading into Week 10: Jets RB Elijah McGuire could be in line for a bigger role in New York's offense.
"The emergence of McGuire, who was activated off of injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game, cannot be overlooked," Franciscovich said. "McGuire dominated the snap share for the Jets backfield playing 36 snaps to Isaiah Crowell's 23. It's not like McGuire blew the doors off the Dolphins defense, but he managed 67 scrimmage yards on 10 touches and also saw five targets out of the backfield. We've already seen Bilal Powell thrive in this change-of-pace role in New York, and that job seems to be McGuire's to lose. He should continue to be an asset, especially in full PPR formats. If Crowell continues to struggle, McGuire could earn an even bigger role. Crowell hasn't done much since his Week 5 explosion against Denver and is now averaging just 2.8 yards per carry over his last four games."
Franciscovich has also revealed which running back tandem has a favorable matchup this week, and what to expect from Minnesota's crowded backfield after its Week 10 bye.
