The NBA trading period doesn't officially begin until July 6, but teams can -- and will -- agree to moves well before then.
For some of the top contenders out there, a number of players may be available that could make a championship run a reality.
SportsLine's oddsmakers have released odds of three names for five of the association's top teams they may be adding this summer.
Andrew Wiggins, Timberwolves 5/1
Kenneth Faried, Nuggets 7/1
Serge Ibaka, Raptors 8/1
The Celtics are seemingly always kicking the tires in the off-season, but last year they brought in 11 new players, and with Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward coming back from injury, the team looks nearly set.
Marcus Smart will be free agent, and Boston may look elsewhere instead of paying him a reported $14 million he plans to seek. Wiggins, who may get moved out of Minnesota, would be a great scoring addition.
Hassan Whiteside, Heat 4/1
Dennis Schroder, Hawks 7/1
Tobias Harris, Clippers 8/1
The future of the Cavs' franchise will be dictated by LeBron James' decision. With him, the Cavs are a NBA championship contender, and they can add talent. Without him, they're in rebuild mode.
Adding a true defense-first center in Whiteside would be a huge addition. Whiteside has two years left of a huge four-year, $98 million deal. He averaged 14 points and 11.4 rebounds this past season, both well under his numbers from the year before (17.0, 14.1).
Schroder isn't interested in spending his prime years on a non-competitive team, and may get shipped out of Atlanta. He's owed $46 million over the next three seasons.

LOS ANGELES LAKERS
Kawhi Leonard, Spurs 3/1
Jabari Parker, Bucks 7/1
Kenneth Faried, Nuggets 6/1
The Lakers have reportedly told teams that no player on their roster is untradeable, including the young nucleus of Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball.
The Lakers are flush with cap space and in position to make a run at LeBron James, assuming he enters free agency this off-season. But they're also among the teams that could pay Kawhi Leonard. Leonard is a Los Angeles native.
SPORTSLINE: WARRIORS A HISTORIC FAVORITE IN NBA FINALS
OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
Tobias Harris, Clippers 4/1
Jabari Parker, Bucks 5/1
Avery Bradley, Clippers 8/1
Parker has one more year left before he becomes a free agent and will command major money. Milwaukee isn't likely to offer what he wants with its money tied up to other players.
Harris is relatively cheap now, but won't be after next year when he becomes a free agent. He could be an attractive option for a team looking to add a forward for a playoff push -- especially if the team parts ways with Paul George and/or Carmelo Anthony.
Bradley is a defensive stopper and occasional explosive scorer who would really help a team like the Thunder.
SAN ANTONIO SPURS
Karl-Anthony Towns, Timberwolves 3/1
Kyle Kuzma, Lakers 5/1
Brandon Ingram, Lakers 5/1
Towns may be the biggest of possible blockbuster candidates. He and the Wolves are reportedly not on the same page. It may trigger a mega-trade, or it may signal the end of Minnesota coach Tom Thibodeau. Towns is due for an extension after 2018-19.
When it comes to mega-trade rumors, it doesn't get any bigger than Towns for Kawhi Leonard. Leonard, if traded, may try to get a deal made to go to L.A., his hometown.
Leonard missed nearly all of 2017-18 rehabbing a quad injury. There were rumors he could have come back but chose not to -- whether true or not, it led to additional drama.
The Spurs reportedly still have interest in signing Leonard to a supermax deal in the off-season (five years, $219 million). If that doesn't work, they may have no choice but to look to the trade market.Join SportsLine now to get picks from top experts, insiders and bookmakers for all games from the NBA, MLB, NHL and more!
