As soon as Peyton Manning retired, there was talk about him rejoining the NFL in a general manager role.
Now it looks like it could happen sooner than later.
FOX Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer reported that Manning will be back in the NFL next year as a GM.

During his playing days, Manning was regarded as one of the smarter and meticulous QBs in the league, and his knowledge and interest in the business and personnel side of things stuck with those who knew him.
?I believe he could very quickly fill the role that John Elway fills with the Broncos,? former Colts GM Bill Polian said in February 2016, right after Manning retired.
?During our 14 years together in Indianapolis, he would often discuss with me prospects coming out in the draft, SEC players he?d seen, players he?d seen in other parts of the country. He pays close attention to the rosters of the other players in the league.
?He knew the strengths and weaknesses of every player on every defense in the AFC and many on offense, because he met them and got to know them at the Pro Bowl and soaked up information. ? He?s more than prepared to do that job."
His potential quick ascension into such a GM role is being compared to that of John Elway with the Broncos. That worked out pretty well -- for Elway and for Manning.
PICK: First, will Manning be a GM by next season? If he wants the job, there will be one for him.
Go with Yes, despite the price.
As far as which team, Manning's ties with the Titans are obvious -- he played at the University of Tennessee and remains close to the area.
But his ties with the Browns are just as strong. He?s a longtime friend of Browns owner Jimmy Haslam ? a fellow former Volunteer.
Both teams named new GMs in January 2016. The Titans seem to be trending upward and may like the direction Robinson is taking things. It?s harder to say the same about the Browns.
With little progress being made in terms of wins, the Chargers may soon be looking to cut ties with fifth-year GM Tom Telesco.
But Manning?s friendship with Haslam puts the Browns over the top.
Go with Cleveland at +350.
