The Saints have added running back Adrian Peterson, but which Adrian Peterson are they getting?
We know it won't be the four-time All-Pro Peterson -- he's 32 and coming off a torn meniscus -- but it could be something relatively close, at least according to one major sportsbook.
BookMaker.eu opened the Over/Under on Peterson's rushing yards at 1,000. You'd have to risk $140 to win $100 on the Under, but you'd make $110 on a $100 bet if you go Over.
The market-setting offshore book lists Peterson's total touchdowns at 9.5. That bet is risking $115 to win $100 either way.
Acccording to the SportsLine Projection Model, Peterson's signing moved the Saints' projected win total from 7.9 to 8.1, and their playoff chances from 31.7 percent to 35.9 percent.
Peterson will run behind an elite offensive line that helped Mark Ingram rush for 1,043 yards (5.1 ypc) and rack up 10 total touchdowns.
But CBS Sports Senior Fantasy Writer Jamey Eisenberg calls it an "odd fit," noting Ingram is the clear No. 1 back and Peterson's "skill set doesn't seem to fit with the Saints since he's limited as a receiver out of the backfield."
