Odds Favor Broncos, Redskins In Chase For Calais Campbell

Two-time Pro Bowl defensive lineman Calais Campbell is about to hit free agency, and the Broncos and Redskins are in the lead for his services, according to oddsmakers.

When the Cardinals tagged outside linebacker Chandler Jones, it became a lot harder for them to sign impending free agent defensive lineman Calais Campbell.

Jones will earn around $15 million this season, assuming he signs his tender. Jones registered 11 sacks and Campbell -- who has spent his entire nine-year career in Arizona -- had eight last year.

Even at age 30, the 6-8, 300-pound Campbell is in for a massive payday thanks to his excellence as both a pass rusher (56.5 career sacks) and run stuffer.

Denver and Washington have emerged as the top contenders for the two-time Pro Bowler, according to fresh odds posted by BookMaker.eu.

From BookMaker.eu: Calais Campbell's team in Week 1 of the regular season

Denver Broncos +200
Washington Redskins +300
Dallas Cowboys +550
Tampa Bay Buccaneers +1000
Arizona Cardinals +2500
Field -150

DENVER BRONCOS (risk $100 to win $200): Campell is a Denver native so this makes a lot of sense. The Broncos urgently need a run stopper, and they've got the cap room.

WASHINGTON REDSKINS (risk $100 to win $300): The Redskins' need for D-line help is even greater than Denver's, and they can afford Campbell. ESPN's John Clayton speculated Campbell could land a three-year deal for around $31 million.

DALLAS COWBOYS (risk $100 to win $550): Jerry Jones says he wants "war daddies" on defense, and Campbell fits the bill. He'd immediately become Dallas' most disruptive defensive lineman, though the team also plans to add a pass rusher or two in the draft.

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (risk $100 to win $1,000): Bucs reporter Ira Kauffman said Campbell could be "a strong possibility" for Tampa Bay. GM Jason Licht knows Campbell well from his previous stint in the Cardinals' front office.

ARIZONA CARDINALS (risk $100 to win $2500): The market should be a hot one for Campbell, making it highly unlikely he returns to Arizona. It's been a great run in the desert.

ANY OTHER TEAM (risk $150 to win $100)

Pick: Go with Denver. The money will be comparable elsewhere, but Campbell gets to go home and returns the Broncos' defense to a championship level.
