On Tuesday, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said "you'll know it when you see it" when asked if the team will turn back to QB Tony Romo.
Starter Dak Prescott appears to be finally playing like a rookie, throwing for exactly one TD in the past three games and failing to reach 200 yards passing in any of them.
The division rival New York Giants just swept the Cowboys in primetime on Sunday night. Now, Dallas plays a Bucs team that's won five straight, and some nervous fans have begun calling for Romo's return.
Despite Prescott's slump and the fact the Cowboys could rest starters in Week 17, BookMaker.eu, a major sports book, doesn't believe Romo will start a game this season.
Romo is +240 to start a game for Dallas during the regular season (bet $100 to win $240). He is, however, favored to take at least one snap during a regular-season game at -120 (bet $120 to win $100).
At BetOnline.ag, Romo is +150 to start a game this season, but favored at -205 to take a snap at some point. Therefore, BetOnline.ag believes there's a stronger chance Romo both starts and takes snaps.
"I'm still of the belief that we'll see Romo under center at some point," BookMaker's Scott Cooley said. "I'm not sure if he'll start or come in later in a game, such as the second half. He needs to knock the rust off in case something does happen to Prescott, and the Cowboys brass should be eager to put him out there to show he is healthy and still a top-tier quarterback."
Romo has gone over a year without playing in a regular-season game. He was injured on Thanksgiving Day of last season.
The veteran has been linked to the Broncos, Jets, and Bears as a possible 2017 starter.
