BookMaker.eu lists the former LSU head coach at +115 (risk $100 to win $115) to replace Tom Herman, who left for Texas.
Miles went 114-34 at LSU until getting fired with a 2-2 record this season. He was 62-28 in SEC play, winning two conference titles and the 2007 national championship.
Oklahoma offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley (+250) and Alabama OC Lane Kiffin (+500) also are serious contenders, while interim Houston coach Todd Orlando (+2500) and Houston OC and quarterbacks coach Major Applewhite (+2500) appear to be long shots.
The field -- any other coach -- is priced at +105.
CBS Sports' Dennis Dodd reported Miles was scheduled to interview Sunday or Monday, and that he was interested in the Group of Five job despite coaching in Power Five schools his entire career.
Houston went 22-4 in two seasons under Herman. This year the Cougars went 9-3, upsetting Oklahoma and Louisville, and will play San Diego State in the Dec. 17 Las Vegas Bowl.
