2024 Go Bowling at The Glen odds, NASCAR picks: Best bets for Watkins Glen from proven racing expert

CBS Sports NASCAR writer Steven Taranto reveals his NASCAR picks to SportsLine for the 2024 Go Bowling at The Glen on Sunday

The NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs continue with the second of three Round-of-16 races, the 2024 Go Bowling at The Glen on Sunday at Watkins Glen International. Two-time Cup Series champion Joey Logano punched his ticket to the Round of 12 with his victory at Atlanta last weekend, while reigning champ Ryan Blaney ranks second in the playoff standings - 45 points above the cut line. Kyle Larson, the 2021 series champion who captured back-to-back checkered flags in this race before finishing 26th last year, is only 15 points above the elimination mark. William Byron, who is fifth in the standings, made his way to Victory Lane at Watkins Glen in 2023.

Larson and Shane Van Gisbergen are 6-1 co-favorites in the latest 2024 Go Bowling at The Glen odds. Byron and Tyler Reddick are 15-2, while Chase Elliott is 8-1. Sunday's race is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. ET.

Before making any NASCAR at Watkins Glen picks, be sure to see what CBS Sports NASCAR writer Steven Taranto has to say.

Taranto, who moonlights as a sim racer and has 20 career wins in iRacing, is the lead NASCAR writer for CBSSports.com, and he chronicles stock car racing with the same thoroughness and passion that he's had since becoming a full-time race fan in 2001. He has an annual NASCAR media credential and also publishes a popular weekly NASCAR predictions column, famously calling Ross Chastain and Daniel Suarez's breakthrough wins in 2022. Taranto has been red-hot for SportsLine in 2024 as he has nailed 12 winners, including 16-1 longshot William Byron at the Daytona 500 and 14-1 longshot Chase Elliott at Texas. Anybody following his NASCAR picks has seen HUGE returns!

For the 2024 Go Bowling at The Glen, we can tell you Taranto is high on Michael McDowell, even though he's a 14-1 longshot. Another curveball: He's fading Juan Pablo Montoya (22-1), who hasn't competed in a Cup Series race since July 2014 at Indianapolis. "No disrespect to the Colombian racing legend, who competed in NASCAR full-time from 2007-13 during a career that saw him become one of the best drivers in the world, but it's tough to see a path where the 48-year-old Montoya quickly regains his old form," Taranto told SportsLine. "It'll be a lot of fun to see Montoya out there again, but I think any slot on your bet slip you were thinking of using for him is best used on someone else."

Taranto also locked in four more Go Bowling at The Glen best bets and is high on a MAJOR dark horse who is going off at over 30-1! You ABSOLUTELY need to see his picks before locking in any NASCAR picks of your own.
