2020 Mayakoba Golf Classic: Expert offers his rankings from the PGA Tour field for your fantasy golf picks

Uncanny golf expert Rick Gehman releases his top 30 players for this week's event in Playa del Carmen

Justin Thomas and Brooks Koepka highlight a field loaded with hungry young players that will tee off Thursday in the Mayakoba Golf Classic, the final official PGA Tour event of the calendar year. William Hill Sportsbook lists Thomas as the 13-2 favorite in the event at  El Camaleón Golf Club in Playa del Carmen Mexico.

Before setting your Fantasy golf lineups or betting this tournament, you NEED to see data scientist Rick Gehman's power rankings.

With his expansive database of golf statistics, course data and betting odds, Gehman creates advanced models and back-tests them constantly. These models have produced 11 outright winners in the past year -- including 30-1 Webb Simpson at the 2020 RBC Heritage -- plus a $10,000 DraftKings win at The Masters.

At this year's Masters, Gehman was locked in on Dustin Johnson, listing him as his second choice and noting that he "looked like he's ready to make a run at the green jacket." The result? Johnson ran away with the tournament, shooting the lowest score in event history at 20 under to win by five strokes!

Two other golfers in his top six had top-five finishes, with Thomas finishing fourth and Rory McIlroy tying for fifth. Anyone who followed Gehman's advice cashed in!

The previous week at the Houston Open, Gehman listed Johnson and Tyrrell Hatton as his top two players, and both finished in the top seven. Johnson battled for the lead throughout the final round before settling for a tie for second at 11 under.

Now, Gehman has ranked his top 30 players for the 2020 Mayakoba Golf Classic, and he is expecting a good week from Koepka. The four-time major champion has struggled with injuries and inconsistency recently, but he appears to be healthy and has flashed some brilliance. Gehman thinks the more "laid-back" resort style will suit his style and make him a STRONG contender!

On the other hand, Gehman is fading Tony Finau, who is getting credit from oddsmakers but has been trending in the wrong direction. Gehman expects him to play well, and he eventually will get his second tour win, but it isn't likely to happen this week. He is listed as the fourth favorite (18-1) at William Hill, but he barely cracks Gehman's top 10.

Instead, Gehman is promoting a 40-1 long shot who has been a regular in the top 20 all year. This young international player should bounce back after a hiccup at Sea Island in his last event, and he has won on tour before. That was a little more than a year ago, and he should be back in contention this week ! You ABSOLUTELY need to see who it is before betting this tournament or entering any Fantasy golf lineups.
