Jonathan Coachman is joined by expert sports bettors Mike McClure and Larry Hartstein on the Early Edge podcast. They give you their best bets for the NBA, college basketball, NHL and NASCAR for Sunday, Feb. 21.
Coach starts things off with the SportsLine Plays of the Day: the Canadiens and Senators to go Under 6.5 goals (7 p.m. ET start) in an NHL game and Colgate (-12) over Boston University (1 p.m. ET start) in college basketball.
McClure begins his picks in NASCAR: Martin Truex Jr. over Chase Elliott (+145) in the O'Reilly Auto Parts 253 (3 p.m. ET start). "I have Martin Truex Jr. as the top guy in the simulations," McClure says. "This is a relatively strong play despite Chase Elliott being a pretty strong favorite at this event."
He also likes Alex Bowman over William Byron (+125). "I give the slight edge to Alex Bowman," McClure says. "I think it should be a pick'em where it's -105 on both sides."
McClure then turns his attention to the NBA, where he likes the Knicks (-2.5) against the Timberwolves (7 p.m. ET). "I love the revenge game narrative here for Tom Thibodeau, who was fired by the Minnesota Timberwolves," he says. "This is a great spot for him."
McClure also likes the Magic (-2) against the Pistons (7 p.m. ET). "The Magic have got Evan Fournier back," he says. "He's playing very well. I like what he does for that lineup."
Hartstein starts his college basketball plays with South Florida (Pick'em) against Temple (2 p.m. ET). "I think they have the coaching edge," he says. "They've actually played some good road games this season.
He also likes Drake (-12.5) against Evansville (4 p.m. ET). "Evansville's a good offensive team, but they're actually the worst defensive team in the (Missouri Valley) conference," Hartstein says. "Drake is going to score at will."
Hartstein also is high on a prop bet in the NBA. He likes the Knicks' Julius Randle going Under 4.5 assists. "With the three point guards (New York has), he's just not the primary playmaker," he says.
