Jonathan Coachman brings in top sports betting experts Mike McClure and Larry Hartstein on the Early Edge podcast, powered by SportsLine. The crew reveals their winning picks for MLB, the Masters, the NBA and NHL for Thursday April 8.
The NBA injury report is a heavy one, as Mike outlines issues for the Lakers, multiple players on the Raptors and Mavericks, the Blazers and more. There are several key players listed as questionable for Thursday's games, and these notes are highly important to keep track of throughout the day leading up to tip-offs.
The Coach supplies a pair of SportsLine Picks of the Day. He says an angry Jazz team are a great target at -6 over the Blazers at 10 p.m. ET. In the NHL, he backs the pick of the Penguins +105 over the Rangers at 7 p.m. ET.
Mike showcases his choice of the Twins -1.5 over the Mariners at 4:10 p.m. ET, as Jose Berrios faces Marco Gonzales. He is very enthused about the Minnesota batting order in an early start for the Mariners. "This lineup is absolutely built to crush left-handed pitching. I love this matchup at home against Marco Gonzales," he says. "Jose Berrios was absolutely electric in his first start. He is at that point in his career where we expect him to take a pretty significant step forward. I think we can still buy low on him here."
The Coach, by popular demand, dishes out a trio of selections for Round 1 of the Masters. He expects Sungjae Im to start fast, and is taking him over Scottie Scheffler. He is also going with Collin Morikawa over Tony Finau and the red-hot Jordan Spieth over Justin Thomas.
Citing a key stat that illustrates Houston's home dominance, Larry is recommending the Astros -145 over the A's at 8:10 p.m. ET. His NBA prop play is Nikola Vucevic Over 10.5 rebounds in Bulls-Raptors at 7:30 p.m. ET. It's a great matchup for Vucevic against Toronto down low.
