No Brady Cook for the Tigers tonight. This, again, could be more of a run heavy game for Missouri since Dew Pyne only threw the ball 12 times against the Crimson Tide with three interceptions. The Sooners have the better run defense, holding opponents to less than 110 rushing yards per game. Jackson Arnold has thrown four touchdowns and no interceptions in the last two games but has a tough test against a good Missouri defense holding opponents to under 300 total yards of offense a game. The Sooners should prevail against this slightly overrated Missouri team.
Missouri was one of the most overrated teams in college football even with quarterback Brady Cook. Now the Tigers will be without Cook on Saturday. That's bad news against an Oklahoma defense that has been solid all season. Meanwhile the Sooners offense has shown signs of life with Joe Jon Finley calling plays and Jackson Arnold back behind center. Give me Oklahoma.
Okay, so it was Maine against whom Oklahoma and its long-moribund offense scored 59 points. Still, it could serve as a confidence boost for the Sooners, who had managed 26 points combined in their three previous games. Missouri flipped in the other direction last Saturday, getting shut out by Alabama. Backup QB Drew Pyne finished the game against the Tide when starter Brady Cook bowed out with injuries. Pyne, who likely will get the call, has done decently as a starter but bumps into a well-above-average defense. The Okies average three-plus sacks per game, so Pyne could be hearing footsteps.
