South Alabama has some defensive issues, but the Jaguars can score in bunches. Arkansas State may have played Michigan tough, but I think that was more about the Wolverines offensive issues than it was the Red Wolves being a G5 power. It's worth digging through the channel guide to find this game just to catch a glimpse of USA quarterback Gio Lopez. I don't see Ark. State keeping up with USA if this thing turns into a shootout.
USA has been in control of this series, as the Jags have won five straight vs. the Red Wolves. More of the same might be in the offing as USA has shown it can score points, especially with QB Gio Lopez (pulled late in the 3rd Q last week vs. LSU just for precautionary reasons) having tossed 10 TD passes and 0 interceptions to date, and even posting decent stats last week despite the Jags being outclassed at LSU. Things not working as smoothly for Butch Jones at Ark State, where QB Jaylen Raynor has thrown just 3 TDP compared to five picks, and the Red Wolves are barley gaining 100 ypg on the ground while gaining only a paltry 2.8 ypc. Play South Alabama
I took out a Sun Belt future on South Alabama a few weeks ago because this team might have the best QB/RB combination in the conference, which goes a long way. Defensively there are issues, but I don't know that the Red Wolves can keep up in a shootout.
