While we have been singing the praises of Boston College, which put up a mighty fight vs. sixth-ranked Mizzou last week, and new HC Bill O'Brien making an immediate impact, now the Eagles are laying points vs. a legit Power 5 foe after getting big points vs. Florida State and Missouri. Michigan State has yet to lose in three tries for new HC Jonathan Smith, who was used to winning at Oregon State, and the fightback win at Maryland two weeks ago did impress. QB Aidan Chiles, who followed Smith from Corvallis, is looking more impressive at the Spartan controls each week. Also note Smith's 18-8-1 dog mark the past five seasons with the Beavers. The start of the Bill O'Brien era has been promising, and it's also been extremely run-heavy. The Eagles lean into their strengths and will likely continue doing so here. I also expect MSU to be a bit more cautious with a young QB on the road.
