Last year, the Volunteers saw their playoff hopes dashed in the form of a 66-24 loss at South Carolina as more than three-touchdown favorites. The Gamecocks could do no wrong and they were also merciless, racking up points through the air even when the outcome was long decided. Many of the same key players are holdovers for this matchup and it’s fair to say Tennessee hasn’t forgotten. The predictably erratic Gamecocks staved off Mississippi State last week following a respectable effort against Georgia. Tennessee dropped its SEC opener at Florida, adding even more motivation to this one. If the Volunteers get rolling, expect them to revel in the payback.
