Here is an unusually low total for a bowl game, but it's legitimate. Not only do both teams prefer running to throwing, with both offenses ranking in the FBS' top 25 for highest percentage of rushes, but their pace of play is leisurely. The RedHawks rank 109th and the Blazers 119th in offensive snaps per game. Miami averages a measly 20.2 ppg, and its games have landed Under in seven of the last nine. UAB's defense yields 23.4 ppg, fewest in CUSA.
First bowl of the season is the Bahamas Bowl. No opt out it appears for either side -- not exactly rosters full of NFL prospects. Certainly think UAB is the better team but more than 10 points better? I'd say Miami has the best win of the two because it beat Big Ten school Northwestern early in the year, but the Wildcats were terrible. The RedHawks have had a lead at some point in all but one game in 2022. This will come down to whether Miami can stop UAB's prolific rushing attack, which averages 246.3 ypg. I think it can as the RedHawks led the MAC in allowing 135.8 ypg on the ground. There's also the fact the UAB players are ticked off at school officials for dumping current coach Bryant Vincent (is coaching the bowl) for former NFL QB Trent Dilfer.
