New Mexico is down to its fourth-string QB, walk-on freshman Connor Genal, and was shut out by Air Force two games ago against the only defense comparable to Wyoming's. Cowboys HC Craig Bohl is one of the best in the business. He was the architect of the North Dakota State dynasty, winning three straight FCS titles before moving on to Wyoming. The Cowboys were off for two weeks before pounding UNLV 45-14, last week in Las Vegas. New Mexico is playing its home games at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas. Wyoming racked up 399 rushing yards last week even with leading rusher Xazavian Valladay leaving the game in the second quarter due to a leg injury. The Lobos' defense has allowed 27 or more points to all five opponents and 38 or more to three of the five.

Wyoming has quietly become an explosive run offense, thanks in part to its freshman QB Levi Williams, who is slowly coming of age. The Cowboys also have a fast, aggressive and attacking defense that will do a great job against the spread-option offense of New Mexico.
