The surprising Wolfpack are averaging 36 points per game in their four wins and their defense yielded 45 in a loss to Virginia Tech. This sets up as good formula for an Over against a North Carolina club that probably isn't nearly as good as the top-five ranking it was gifted, but also better than it showed in a loss to Florida State last week. The Tar Heels have a ton of offensive potential and this game should play high.
The Tar Heel offense ranks No. 4 in the country in yards per play at 7.4 and No. 23 in scoring at 35.3 points per game. The defense has allowed 76 points the last two games versus Virginia Tech and Florida State. NC State's offense averages 33.6 points, good for No. 29 overall, and the defense allows 31.4 points. Over is the play.
One of the major surprises in the ACC has been how NC State can score. The offense has really consistent, and RB Zonovan Knight should help the Wolfpack move the ball even with QB Devin Leary out. Defensively, pass rusher Daniel Joseph has found himself in the backfield often, leading the team with three sacks. While UNC has the weapons on offense and talented players on defense, the Tar Heels have been a bit too up-and-down for me to trust them in this rivalry game by 17 points.
