This is an absolute must-win game for Louisville, and I think they'll get it, but I'm not sure they can win this spread. Instead I'm going to rely on a Louisville offense that doesn't move quickly to suppress possessions. Also, Louisville's offense is slightly below average at finishing drives in the red zone, and Georgia Tech's been one of the worst in the country in that category. Offense that can't finish drives have trouble going Over totals this high.
Georgia Tech’s freshman quarterback Jeff Sims has struggled to begin the season, with three touchdowns and eight interceptions. Yet, Louisville is having major struggles of its own. Junior quarterback Malik Cunningham has thrown five interceptions, which equals what he threw the entire 2019 season. Grab the Yellow Jackets as the pressure is on Louisville to get its first ACC win.
Cardinals quarterback Micale Cunningham has struggled out of the gate, but will get right against a Georgia Tech team that has been very hit-or-miss in 2020. The weather is supposed to get ugly in Atlanta and Yellow Jackets quarterback Jeff Sims is turnover-prone. Cunningham and the multi-dimensional Cardinals offense will pull away late.
Though each team stands 1-2 straight-up, Louisville has weathered the more difficult schedule. QB Malik Cunningham (head) appears good to go after enduring a hard tackle last Saturday. With him, the Cardinals can dissent Tech’s shaky defense. The Jackets lack dynamism on offense with promising but unseasoned frosh QB Jeff Sims. Tech enjoys a limited home-field edge under normal circumstances, as its recent 3-13 ATS record suggests, and it will be negligible on a Friday night in Atlanta.
