Army's pair of blowout wins against vastly inferior opponents has led to some value on the favorite in this one. The Black Knights can be difficult to handle, but they are facing a defensive expert in Cincinnati coach Luke Fickell, who has 16 returning starters from last year's 11-win team. The Bearcats also have plenty of firepower on the offensive side and they should pull away from the stubborn Knights for the cover.
The Knights have been able to prepare for this Cincinnati offense for two weeks, which should help them get off to a great start defensively. Their defense has been more of the story this year, as they are vastly improved over last season. The Bearcats have a tremendous QB in Desmond Ridder, and their offense looks to have not missed a beat despite some of their losses to graduation. Defensively, I don't believe one week is enough time to prepare for Army's triple-option attack.
This one is calling to me like the sirens called Odysseus to the rocks. Unlike our hero, I am not afraid to come to their sweet, sweet tune. I love when I can get Army as a dog, particularly when it's nearly a two-touchdown dog. Army is 18-9-1 ATS under Jeff Monken any time it's a dog of 3.5 points or more. It's one of the perks of running an option offense.
