Both squads have a short week, but only one team (UNLV) had to commute a considerable distance (to Nashville) last Saturday. The Runnin’ Rebels topped Vanderbilt of the mighty SEC and might have trouble refocusing so quickly for another road test. The Bulldogs have neglected to cover in just five of their last 21 home gigs and blasted the Rebels 48-3 in Vegas a year ago. They were schooled by Air Force’s triple-option offense last week but face a more traditional attack this time.
With UNLV coming off a major upset win over Vanderbilt last week I'm a little hesitant to take it in this spot, but I do believe the Rebels will get this cover. Fresno's defense has been a bit leaky this season, and it's offense isn't as explosive. I don't see the Rebels pulling off a second straight upset win, but they'll stay within this number.
UNLV shocked the college football world last week in its beatdown of Vanderbilt. The Rebels have a tougher task this week, but one that's definitely not out of the realm for the Rebels. Fresno State has a significant advantage over UNLV defensively. The Bulldogs are strong in the back seven, and that group does a great job of playing good, fundamentally sound defense. Offensively, Fresno State is much more consistent on a game-to-game basis than UNLV. Take the Bulldogs.
