My oh my how far has Syracuse fallen? This is a team that began the season ranked, and now here we are in late September and it's only favored by 5 points at home against Western Michigan. The same Western Michigan that allowed 51 points to Michigan State! If Syracuse doesn't cover this spread, at home, against a mediocre MAC team, it's going 3-9 at best. With its back against the wall, I like the Cuse.
I was on the Western Michigan-Monmouth broadcast in Week 1 and came away with the impression that WMU was a carbon copy of Syracuse. The Broncos have weapons at receiver, tight end and running back. Their quarterback, Jake Wassink, is playing with a ton of confidence. Syracuse is coming off of back-to-back blowout losses to both Maryland and Clemson. The team's confidence is shot, considering the build-up for the Clemson game. But, what's concerning is that the Orange just don't have the same threats on the perimeter or at quarterback, that we're used to seeing. Take Western.
