ROSE BOWL -- The day Urban Meyer announced his retirement, I tweeted that you should put your mortgage on Ohio State -4. I was only kind of joking. This is a spot where Meyer dominates for myriad reasons. Let's start with the fact that he's 10-3 with more than two weeks to prepare for a team. His record is even more impressive with "just" two weeks to prepare. Then add in that his teams -- at Utah and Florida -- dominated every time he was planning a departure (2005 Fiesta 35-7, 2010 Sugar 51-24, 2011 Outback 37-24). The Buckeyes have superior talent and coaching compared to the Huskies. Chris Petersen -- once lauded for his bowl record -- has lost the last two bowls at Washington by a combined 59-35, and this team isn't nearly as good as those. This could be Ohio State -10, and I'd still take it..
ROSE BOWL -- Grab the Buckeyes to send Urban Meyer off in proper fashion, as Jake Browning’s poor senior year continues. Lay the points.
ROSE BOWL -- A good matchup in the Rose Bowl featuring two good QBs. The Huskies are one of the more fundamentally sound defensive teams in college football. On offense they run the ball well and play solid special teams. Ohio State's defense seems to have found its groove during the latter part of the season. QB Dwayne Haskins was a Heisman finalist and is the best quarterback in the country. And aside from his Husky counterpart Jake Browning, he does a great job of protecting the football.
ROSE BOWL -- This will be Urban Meyer's final game at Ohio State. Considering how Ohio State played against Michigan earlier this season, you have to think it'll bring the same kind of preparation to the Rose Bowl in Meyer's final game. Urban Meyer teams have gone 9-3 ATS in bowl games, while Chris Petersen's Washington teams are 1-3 in bowls both straight up and ATS.
ROSE BOWL -- Whether Ohio State is driven to send out coach Urban Meyer into his latest retirement with a win is debatable. But a talent comparison between the rosters shouts for a Buckeyes plan at under a touchdown. The Buckeyes’ Dwayne Haskins makes his pitch as an early NFL draft selection. No QB was hotter at the end of the season. Meyer can polish his already shiny ATS bowls record, now at 10-3 with four wins in a row.
ROSE BOWL -- It's offense versus defense in the Rose Bowl with Ohio State playing Washington. The Buckeyes average 43.5 points per game while the Huskies allow just 15.5. In my simulations, the Buckeyes score enough to get the job done and cover. I'm projecting them to win by 10, and they're covering 60 percent of simulations. Lay the points.
