Lane Kiffin was all the rage last season. If you follow college football you couldn't go a day without hearing his name due to his social media presence and FAU's success on the field. Well, you haven't heard much of anything about Kiffin this season, and that's because this year's FAU team isn't nearly as good. It's defense, in particular, is quite bad, and I have a hard time trusting a defense that's this bad on third down and in the red zone as a favorite. Throw in some of the worst special teams in the country and LaTech is the play to make here.

In Conference USA, both Louisiana Tech and UAB have outstanding defenses. What I like about the Bulldogs is that their defense has the ability to turn the ball over. When faced with teams that can cover and turn the ball over, FAU has struggled to find consistency. Also, do not sleep on La. Tech's offensive balance. The Bulldogs do a great job with the added possessions that their defense afford them. Take the short underdog Friday.
