Lamar Jackson is off to the NFL, but his heir apparent, sophomore Jawon Pass, is more the pro-style quarterback that coach Bobby Petrino prefers. Louisville returns most of its offensive skill players from last season's eight-win club. A young and inexperienced defense is a major concern against Alabama's power offense. But for all the accolades he received because of last year's title-game performance, Tua Tagovaiola will be making his first collegiate start if he is coach Nick Saban's choice. The Cardinals have played well under Petrino on opening day, and they should have the firepower to stay within this number.
I am excited to see Louisville's new starting QB Jawon Pass. He has great ability in the pocket to pick apart a secondary, and the athleticism to pick up a first down or two. The question for the Cardinals is where will the running game come from without Lamar Jackson. Alabama's QB situation aside, the Tide will still come into this game with the same stout defense. I can see Louisville putting up a fight early, but the Tide dominates late and covers.
