It now looks as if Auburn superstar freshman Sharife Cooper will play; he was considered doubtful on Monday but is warming up. Cooper is good enough by himself if healthy to deem this spread now too large -- although in a rivalry game, I thought it was a bit too big regardless. Auburn, on a postseason ban, has nothing to play for other than spoiler and to avoid the first season sweep vs. the Tide since 2015. Plus, Alabama wrapped up the SEC title Saturday, so it might be a bit flat.
Sharife Cooper (20.2 ppg, 8.1 apg) is officially questionable for Auburn's rivalry game at Alabama, but it doesn't sound like he's going to play. He's missed two straight and was unable to practice Sunday, though he is traveling to Tuscaloosa. Cooper had 26 points in the first meeting, a 94-90 Tide win on the Plains. Alabama has wrapped up the regular-season title but beating Auburn is paramount. Over the past two games, the Tide have shot well below their season average from 3-point range. Look for them to get back on track at home, and cover.
