The Hoosiers’ 16-point trouncing of FSU last season and a workload edge this year -- IU has played four times, three against stout competition, while the Seminoles have gone once -- have resulted in a small spread. Countering those factors is FSU’s noted home-court prowess: just three straight-up setbacks in the past four seasons. The ’Notes have covered in the last four at home. Given FSU’s assembly line of big men, the absence of 6-foot-11 Joey Brunk, who has yet to record a minute this year, will be felt. Hoosiers guard Al Durham is a gametime decision. Fellow PG Rob Phinesee is coming off a five-turnover outing, a bad omen when facing FSU’s noted pressure defense.
This line feels quite a bit too low to me. Florida State is loaded again this season and never loses at home, winning 39 straight non-conference games in Tallahassee (nation's second-longest non-con home winning streak). The Noles usually win those in blowout fashion. Five-star freshman Scottie Barnes and senior MJ Walker form one of the ACC's most talented backcourts. Indiana's not bad but already has lost by 22 to Texas in Maui. Hoosiers second-leading scorer and top assist man Al Durham injured his ankle in that one, missed the next one and is a game-time call. I don't expect this to be particularly close.
